Festivals Malta launched the Malta Jazz Festival – City Jazz Series yesterday evening at The Phoenicia Malta, Valletta together with this year’s photographic exhibition by Therese Debono titled ‘Jazz Expressions’.
Minister José Herrera, who addressed the launch, commented on the festival’s importance within the cultural sector, as it has “become part of our cultural calendar”. This year’s City Jazz Series has been reduced to five concerts, featuring local artists as well as some international acts. Artistic Director Sandro Zerafa explains that despite the restrictions the festival has, it will still feature the eclectic and varied programme it is known for. After the launch, the festival saw its first concert by Dmitri Baevski Quartet at The Phoenicia Malta Bastion Pool.
The exhibition at The Phoenicia Malta will be available for viewing until the end of July during the hotel’s opening hours.
